Celebrating 50 Years of Loyalty–Greg Rodrigues

Blog,Our Stories - October 19, 2020

At Vector Logistics, we believe that our people are our greatest asset. They are the bedrock of our company and take us and our customers on a journey of GOING BEYOND. Greg Rodrigues is a true example of a loyal employee who has truly thrived working for Vector Logistics for the past 50 years.

We sat down with Greg to get to know him more…

In 1970, Greg started working as a plant attendant at I&J. 32 years later, I&J started Vector Logistics as a supplier to old age homes and boarding schools and Greg was later appointed as a Refrigeration Technician. Greg truly witnessed the growth of the company when Rainbow purchased Vector Logistics from I&J.

Greg attributes his long journey with Vector Logistics to his love for mechanical and refrigeration works as well as his ability to contribute to the company. When we asked him what his proudest moment at Vector Logistics has been, he said that it was being involved in the launch of Vector Logistics at Spier in Stellenbosch.

In a testimonial from Jurie Schoeman, Vector’s Regional Operations Executive, he said, “Greg’s practical nature, love for machinery and various courses over the years developed him into an exceptional Refrigeration Technician.  But there is much more to this man – his humble, caring and soft-spoken nature combined with absolute integrity and loyalty truly sets him apart.  All who have crossed his path learnt from him and will remember him”.

Testament to Greg’s nature, he insisted on not having a farewell and for the team to rather make a food donation to a charity of his choice.

Greg’s parting words of advice is to first be honest in everything you do and do it with the best of your ability.  Be open to learning opportunities and respect everyone – earn your respect.

We’re proud to have people like Greg part of our family of thinkers and doers, helping us to keep Going BEYOND.
