Slindile Msomi’s Journey from Merchandiser to Area Sales Manager

Blog,Our Stories - July 16, 2021

My name is Slindile Msomi and I would like to take you through my journey since joining RCL FOODS in 2014 .

Oh yes, what a journey it has been! It has had both, its challenges and it’s fun moments. I remember starting off in 2014, just a typical girl from the rural areas of PMB in the deep dusty roads of Kwanxamala. I was just so happy to have found a job.  And SO grateful for opportunity to be able to look after my family since we had no one working in the family.

I worked as a merchandiser for a couple of years. Vector gave me the opportunity to work on a tuck shop project they ran which was called Bottom Of The Pyramid.  I was extremely happy I was to work in that project. I wanted to make it a success, and so I gave everything I had! I saw that as chance for me to grow in my career and really put my best foot forward.

A while later I got the opportunity to act as an Area Marketer. From that day I told myself I will make my family very proud of me, and I will one day become a Regional Manager.

A year later, I got a permanent position as an Area Marketer. I still remember the feeling of disbelief, knowing where I came from it just seemed so unbelievable.

On the 1st of July 2020 during COVID, a year nobody could have ever imagined. When the world had turned upside down, I was agitated and never expected any growth career wise, but Vector, regardless of the challenges the company was facing, still gave me an opportunity and promoted me into an Area Sales Manager role.  It has been an incredible 7 years with Vector.

And that is not the end of my story. I’m currently studying through MANCOSA and the best part – the company is paying for my studies. Thanks to RCL FOODS & Vector Logistics, I have the opportunity to grow in life and also support my family. There are no words to express my gratitude.
