GOING BEYOND with people… Speaking to Amos

Amos Ruele is a passionate shift warehouse controller at our Midrand operation. He’s been part of the Vector family for the past nine years and leads the day-shift outbound team which looks after our export orders, ensures that stock reaches our sites across SA every day, and also takes care of special deliveries. Here’s a snapshot of what’s behind his passion for work and life.

Vector is all about Going Beyond, which fits in with RCL FOODS’ passion to bring More Food To More People, More Often.  What are you passionate about at work?

I’m passionate about people! In the workplace I love connecting and collaborating with people on all levels across the business, whether it’s listening to a customer’s feedback or innovating with my team. I’m also passionate about training and developing people. It’s so rewarding when someone thanks you for helping them learn a new skill or a valuable life lesson.

Who or what inspires you at work?

Most importantly I’m totally inspired by the Do More Foundation – and the amazing work they do in the communities in which we operate. As a business, this is one area I really believe we are seeing and doing things differently.

On a practical level, my line manager had a major impact on my life. She recognised my understanding of the business and gave me the opportunity to lead a team. The day I became part of her team, is a day I will never forget.

What’s your take on customer relationships?

At Vector we work hand in hand with our customers like Spur, Nando’s, Pick ’n Pay and Burger King to ensure ‘a world class consumer experience’ for their customers. We also focus on service excellence to our international customers to grow our export business.

Ultimately, what legacy would you like to leave?

I want to be remembered as an inspirational leader in the Vector business – one they will never forget. I also want to be known as a great father and husband.
